Phil has been privileged to be reared in a Christian home and being a part of a church since he was an infant. He gave his life to Christ at age 6 during a vacation Bible school program, and sensed God’s call to be a pastor when he was a child. When he finished his undergraduate degree from Grand Rapids Baptist College (currently Cornerstone University) he returned home for a year and met Jennie. They were married in 1989 and graduated with a Masters of Divinity from Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary in 1992. He’s been serving in pastoral ministry since 1993 and serving at Main Street since 2002, overseeing the educational ministries. He loves to teach the Bible and is passionate to see each person, irrespective of age, grow in their relationship with Jesus.
Associate Pastor – Youth Ministry, email@example.com
Jerod began serving at Main Street Baptist Church since 2013. Prior to coming to MSBC, he served as a volunteer in youth ministry in Yardley, PA. His love for ministering to teenagers stems from his experience as a teenager in youth group and Young Life in Burbank, CA, where he grew up. Jerod holds his B.S. in Bible from Philadelphia Biblical (now Cairn) University. His desire is to build relationships with students in the Oneonta area, spread the good news of Jesus, and connect many students to the Church. Jerod, along with his wife, Jocelyn, and their two children, Joshua and Addisyn, enjoy hikes, going to the beach, or simply reading together. He loves movies such as Braveheart, The Dark Knight, and Star Wars. He also loves peanut butter, ice cream, most sports, a wide variety of music, and getting schooled by the other three pastors.

Barbara Deemer came to Christ at age 15, but her growth as a Christian didn’t really take off until college when she gotinvolved with Campus Ambassadors (CA) and began attending a church that helped her understand the Bible. Spending a year as an exchange student in Central America and sharing her faith on a secular college campus both contributed to her love for people and a desire to introduce them to Jesus. Her husband, Chris, came to Christ in college and decided to go on staff with CA. They moved to Oneonta in the fall of 1976 to establish a CA ministry with the help of MSBC. Barbara was a stay-at-home mom for their five children, now grown, and began working part-time in the church office in early 2008. Currently, she also teaches two Spanish classes at Oneonta Community Christian School. In addition to investing in the lives of her children and grandchildren, she loves connecting people to Christ and to others in the church family. She also enjoys being outdoors, long walks, mission trips, and pizza with mushrooms.
